Franklin First: Why Independent Voters Matter

  • Jun 11

In Franklin Township, party politics should never matter more than doing what is right for our town.

Independent voters matter in Franklin Township!

Most residents are not thinking about national party battles when they are sitting in traffic, opening their tax bills, worrying about overdevelopment, watching warehouses move closer to neighborhoods, or wondering whether our council members are truly listening to them. These are local issues. They affect Republicans, Democrats, Independents, families, seniors, business owners, commuters, parents, and taxpayers alike.

That is why the Franklin Township Republican Municipal Committee believes local government should be focused on people, not party control.

We know Democrats will try to convince Independent voters that party labels matter above all else. They will try to make every local concern sound like a partisan fight because that helps them maintain control in Franklin Township. But residents should ask a simple question: has one-party control made Franklin better?

If the answer is no, then it is time for something different.

We are not asking Independent voters to agree with Republicans on every national issue. We are asking them to look honestly at Franklin Township and decide whether our local government is working as well as it should. Are residents being heard? Are taxes reasonable? Is development being handled responsibly? Are neighborhoods being protected? Is there real transparency? Is there enough balance on council?

Franklin needs diverse voices in local government. No town is best served when one party holds all the power and every decision moves in the same direction without meaningful challenge. Healthy local government requires balance, accountability, and leaders who are willing to ask hard questions on behalf of the people they represent.

We are neighbors. We are moms, dads, grandparents, homeowners, taxpayers, volunteers, and residents who care deeply about Franklin Township. We want safer neighborhoods, responsible growth, stronger transparency, better communication, and leadership that puts residents first.

The truth is simple: much-needed change in Franklin Township is unlikely to happen without Independent voters.

Independent voters have the power to decide whether Franklin continues down the same path or chooses new leadership, new ideas, and a better balance on council. Your vote matters. Your voice matters. Your concerns matter.

If you are an Independent voter who feels frustrated, unheard, or concerned about the direction of Franklin Township, we invite you to come meet us. Attend a meeting. Ask questions. Share your concerns. Get to know the people behind the committee.

You may find that we care about many of the same things: safe neighborhoods, fair taxes, responsible development, honest communication, and a local government that listens.

Franklin Township belongs to all of us. If we want a better Franklin, we need to work together.
